“This affordable bottling pops on the nose with green pear, grass and white pepper notes. The palate is bright with flavors of grass, guava peel and green mango.” – Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast, September 2024

Winemaking

The grapes were picked in the cool hours of the early morning, brought directly into the winery, and sent to press. The Sauvignon Blanc was fermented in stainless steel to retain the crisp, fruit- forward flavors of the varietal. The wine is fermented quickly, bottled early, and is best enjoyed well chilled in its youth.

Vintage

The 2023 season in California’s Central Coast will be remembered for exceptionally high-quality fruit. Harvest began in late August due to some cooler weather conditions contributing to slightly delayed ripening. Most vineyards peaked approximately one to two weeks later than a typical year. This allowed the fruit an extended hang time, which lowered sugar and alcohol levels, while the crop yield remained robust and normal in size. The white varietal harvest got into full swing in early to mid-September, continuing into October. Overall, the quality of the harvest resulted in wines with a harmoniously balanced structure, brilliant color extraction, and freshness that will likely surpass many vintages of the past decade.

Vineyard

For this inaugural vintage of the Tapestry Central Coast Sauvignon Blanc, our winemakers sourced delicious fruit from Monterey County in California’s Central Coast, located between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Monterey County’s soil complexity, slightly longer growing season, and coastal climate influence with warm sunny days and cool coastal fog make the appellation an ideal place to grow balanced, bright, and flavorful Sauvignon Blanc fruit. The Central Coast location of these inland valley vineyards provides generous sunshine to ripen grapes to full maturity, while the cooling fog, directly influenced by the Pacific Ocean, moderates the heat, making this one of the coolest growing regions in California.
